34′ 100 Mask Receive in 21 Days

As far as the Operation 100′ 000 Mask Initiative is concern, the Mayor of Banjul City Council, Ajaratou Rohey Malick Lowe recently updated the media on the progress of the Mask Initiative, saying over 34, 100 mask have been received from different people, which represents 34.1% in 21 days.

It could be recalled that Mayor Lowe on 13th August, 2020 launched the operation 100, 000 face marks initiative for the needy Gambians while calling on the Gambians both home and in the Diaspora to join her and take up this challenge “I want to take this opportunity and call on all to put aside our differences whether political or otherwise and save our nation as I intend with your support to provide 100, 000 face masks for our needy Gambians” she said.

Briefing the media Mayor Lowe expressed appreciation to all those who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the initiative, “I am here today to show appreciation and to say a big thank you, to each and every one who contributed to make this initiative a successful one” she said

BCC Mayor added that many were doubting how could it be possible to get 100, 000 mask in 60 days, she however said it can possible if people work hard and join hands together in the fight against COVID-19 in the Gambia, “People have come in there large numbers to solidarity with the 100, 000 mask initiative and this not only for Banjul but is for the Gambians” she stated.

Madam Lowe hopes that before the end of the 60 days they will have the 100, 000 mask adding that if it’s not possible then at least 70%.

She further named the people who contributed to Initiative, but among was the Mayor of Dakar who contributed 25, 000 mask. “This People deserve to be named and of course I thank them always, People should not think what the country is doing for them, but they should think what can I do for my country” she said

“Anyone who contributed to Initiative, you should know that you did the right thing, and you did it for your parents, family and children and Gambians” she stated

She further highlights her Councils transparency “My Council is transparent, that’s why whatever we are doing we make sure the media is present while revealing that the council will start disturbing the mask throughout the country” she concluded.
