APRC Condemns Use of live Bullets in Faraba

The Executive of the former ruling party APRC has condemned the use of live bullets leading to three deaths in Faraba Bantang.
The APRC came up with the condemnation in a press release issued out and signed by the party’s leader Fabakary Tombong Jatta yesterday. It followed a visit to Faraba Bantang by the executive members of the now opposition party including its leader Tombong Jatta.
They said the visit was meant to sympathize with the villagers on “the irreplaceable loss of lives and property.” The team also visited the site where the clash took place and met with some community members. As such, the APRC deplored and condemned the use of live ammunition against unarmed civilians and the subsequent arrest of some community members. “As we recall the shooting to death of Mr. Haruna Jatta with live ammunition, it is also regrettable that this Faraba Bantang crisis which has been dragging on for some time now could have been resolved to avoid the loss of the cream (youth) of our dear country.”
The APRC party therefore called on government to immediately investigate the circumstance that led to the bloody Monday incident and to bring to book all those found wanting, as well as recommending that government should compensate the families of the deceased and wounded.
“We pray that Allah SWT prevent a reoccurrence of this type of incident and the departed souls be granted in JannatulFirda’us (heaven). We further pray that Allah SWT grants the families of the departed souls the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement concluded.
