Direct Aid The Gambia Pledges to Provide Food for 50 COVID-19 patients

On the 137th national situation report since on COVID-19 in The Gambia, Ministry of Health has revealed that Direct Aid The Gambia a non governmental charitable organization has pledged to provide lunch and dinner for 50 COVID-19 patients for a period of 6 weeks.

Health Ministry said no new COVID-19 related death recorded – the only posthumous sample tested returned a negative test result adding that 46 new cases registered, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 3,196, “this represents a 22.8% test positivity rate (46 out of 202 total tests performed)” Ministry said

Ministry of Health further said the median age of the new cases is 34.5 years (range: 0 to 67 years)

According to the report 202 new laboratory test results received from MRCG and NPHL, of these, 24 new test returned indeterminant

The report said 9 new recoveries registered, bringing the cumulative number of recovery rate), “whereas 0 new people were taken into quarantine, no new discharges were made”.

country currently has 129 people in quarantine, 1,773 active cases, 353 probable cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.1%

“The bulk of the active cases are asymptomatic and are as such self-isolating at home pending the manifestation of symptoms” Ministry said
