NAM Donates 3 Giant Trophies with Cash Prize of D115, 000

Hon. Kebba K. Barrow Majority Leader of the National Assembly and Member for Kombo South Constituency on Sunday handed over (3) Giant Trophies with a Cash prize of D115,000 (One hundred and Fifteen Thousand Dalasis) to Sports Committees in his Constituency.
The handing over ceremony was held at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field in Gunjur. .
Speaking at handing ceremony Barrow told the sport fraternity that the initiative is to promote sport and to bring Kombo South back as it was in the early days where they produce talented footballers. He said the likes of Star Janneh, Adama Jobe, Bakary Jammeh, Bakary Jabang and all the people who were big names in football came from Kombo South.
Hon. Barrow dedicated the first Trophy to the late veteran politician Alasana Bojang of Jambur, who he said have work a lot for the party, adding that the trophy serves as a remembrance show of appreciation of his hard work. The second and the third trophies were given to Jambur Sports Committee and the Gunjur Sports Committee with the cash amount of D15, 000 (Fifteen Thousand Dalasis) each.
The MP also donated cash prizes amounting to D5, 000 (Five Thousand Dalasis) for each of the various Sports Committees within his Constituency: Siffoe Sports Committees, Nyofelleh Sports Committees, Kartong Sports Committees, Kachumeh Sports Committees, Janbanjelleh Sports Committees, Sanyang, Tanje Sports Committees and Tujereng Sports Committees.
Haddrameh Sidibeh Youth and Sport minister expressed happiness and joy towards the good direction taking by the Majority Leader Hon. Kebba K. Barrow “I am very much impressed seeing people put their own money in the development of sport and the Youth sector”. He said
He also assured his full support towards developing sport in the area morally and financially “I will not ignore your federation as far as football is concern” he noted.
On his part Mr. Lamin K. Jammeh the first Vice President of the Gambia Football Federation said the GFF is doing a number of programme adding the Gunjur Football Field is already been approved by Fifa for development saying that work will start very soon,
He said it is one of their programs to decentralize football adding that Gambia cannot have good football without good infrastructures, he also commended Hon. K. K. Barrow for this good initiative while encouraging him to add.
Lamin Darboe President of the Gunjur Sports Committee thanked their MP for the donation called on GFF for more support.
