TahirAhmaddiyya Upper and Senior Secondary School in Mansakonko over the weekend held its annual graduation ceremony under the theme: “building the capacity of future leaders”.
The graduation ceremony was held on Saturday the 30th June 2018 in Mansakonko, were some100 students from both Upper and Senior Secondary levels graduated.
Delivering a speech during the graduation ceremony, the Principal of Tahir Ahmaddiya Senior School, Mr Abubakar Nyabally thanked the Ahmaddiya Muslim Jamat for the support they are rendering to the country particularly the Tahir School in Mansakonko. He stated that the School was established in 1988 and built by the people of Ahmaddiya Muslim Jamat.
He said the school has a policy that provides breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as clothing and shoes to the best students in order to encourage them more and also the school organises extra classes for all students for free.
He affirmed that throughout all the schools in the provinces, it is only Tahir that produced aggregate 6 which according to him is a clear manifestation of the achievement the school was making in the country. He promised that in the recently concluded grade 9 WAEC examination, the school will produce more than one aggregate 6. He adduced that in last year’s grade 9 examinations, out of 142 schools in the Gambia, Tahir came out with second position in the entire country and promised to defeat all schools this year. “We will come out first whenever the WAEC results are announced” he emphasized.
He said the school has a poultry where they made D32, 550.00 (thirty two thousand five hundred and fifty dalasis) during last year’s sales. He stated that the responsibility to run the poultry rests on the teachers, students and the school caretakers.
Mariama Jawneh Cham, an outgoing teacher also gave a farewell speech thanking the school management for the support during her one year stay in the school particularly the School Principal, Mr Nyabally referring to him as a father to her.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, the outgoing school headboy, Ebrima Jara thanked the school teachers and management for their support during their time in the school.
“Words cannot express how grateful we feel and appreciate your efforts in the process of imparting knowledge on us. You have taken us through both academic and moral training, institution and successful examination,” he remarked. According to the ex-head boy of the school, the school administration and teachers have served them with utmost best, dedication and commitment.
