Week-end of Political Party National Congresses

Five political parties will hold their party national congresses over the weekend, Daily News can confirm. They are the PDOIS, GDC, NRP, NCP and the oldest political party in country the PPP will all have their national congresses at different places in the country as per the IEC rules.
In a letter addressed to the Daily News the GDC under the leadership of party leader Hon Mama Kandeh will hold its congress in the provincial town of Basse in the URR; whiles the NRP under the leadership of Hon Hamat Bah shall also hold their congress in another provincial town of Soma in the LRR. The NCP and PPP will all hold their national congresses in the commercial settlement of KMC, whiles PDOIS will held their own at Njagen Sanjal in the NBR.
All the above mentioned political parties are meeting the constitutional requirements of the country; which says every political party must have their congress every two years.
The congress will avail the general membership of these political parties the opportunity to elect their party executives and make other decision for their respective political parties.
It could be recalled that the United Democratic Party (UDP), had just conducted their national congress and elected party officials to their various positions. The APRC and the GMC had all in trying to meet the IEC requirement also had their congress not too long ago.
