In a historic occasion the Upper River Region Area Council , otherwise the Basse Area Council under Chairman Danjo,s leadership recently embarked on a massive foundation stone laying for three ( 3 ) bridges amounting to D12.8 million in three of its wards.
The Sabi Ward is one of the beneficiaries that has benefited from a staggering D4.1 million dalasi contract for the construction of Sambalolo bridge in Sabi Ward Fulladu East District.
Following the request from the community through the ward development committee to construct a bridge at the entrance between Sambalolo and Sabi, Haji Suwaneh a member of the Village Development Committee told the Daily News that they have secured the project from Basse area council.
Suwaneh said the project is fully funded from the 60% of tax paid by tax payers and the project will go a long way in improving the living conditions of the people of Sabi ward. Suwaneh applauded the project and said it will ease access to health, education and movement of goods and services to and from basse.
The committee at large including the elders and the inhabitants described the bridge as a big success of the ward as it is the first of its kind for a Ward councilor to bring to his/her people such a laudable project.
Various speakers including member for Basse constituency thank the Basse Area Council and the Ward Councilor Hon Jawara Yuba together with ward development committee for making the best use of taxpayer’s monies.
