The Daily news has been taken unaware by the sudden demise of a staff member in the person of Neneh Galleh Barry, who is the latest victim in the media fraternity to be snatched by the cold hands of death Friday 09th of October 2020. A Tuesday of the week was Neneh’s last appearance at her former office where her colleagues at the Daily news office with seemly unending beautiful exchange of jokes, not knowing that was a farewell for her to colleagues, that she will never meet again.
Neneh has a long standing excellent record in the media work, this is manifested in short statements filed by her colleagues at the Daily News paper expressing how they felt about sudden fall of a colleague, mentor and honest personality whose shared memories will linger in minds till when another opportunity appears to reconciled with her here after.
Speaking in with a heavy hearth at the funeral, Madi MK Ceesay the Publisher and Editor in Chief of the Daily News paper, expressed that Neneh was a very hardworking journalist who stood firm in ensuring that Daily News excel. Ceesay added that she worked briefly with a Today’s newspaper where she was committed to writing human interest stories, this he said was her passion. The said story was reason to drag her paper to court.
Ceesay added that one of the qualities of Neneh, is that she crosses all huddles just to fetch stories in the best interest of the readers. The editor concluded by praying that Allah have mercy on her soul.
For her part, the Manager of Daily News Mrs.Fatou Y.Sanyang, said the sudden death of Neneh has taken something out of her which can never be replaced.
“What a beautiful well-mannered and young ambitious lady who left her auspicious career behind her so soon due to death. Galleh was a hardworking and efficient journalist. She was indeed a genius; I can’t stop thinking about her “stated Manger Sanyang.
In his view Ousainou Sawaneh (Prince Ojee) the Accountant of the Daily News, said his comments that it’s devastating to lose a young lady, brilliant, dedicated and hardworking staff like Neneh Galleh Barry, he added that he was shocked to be informed of the unexpected death of a colleague. He went further and lamented that Neneh was with them in the Daily News offices last Tuesday and interacting with her. Nene he said is a true Muslim. According to him the deceased always reminds all of them of prayers time when the hour is due and she speaks the truth the way its appears irrespective of who is affected. Prince ojee reiterated that she was very friendly and dedicated to job, she will be greatly missed he stated.
“Late Neneh was such wonderful person to the Daily News and has been always a great asset of the company. Her presence will always be missed at the Daily News and the beautiful stories at TRRC. Her sudden death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love given by the person who is no more leaves a memory which no one can steal. Neneh you will never be forgotten but again… we love you always and forever and our prayers are with you forever”
He concluded by praying to for the soul of Neneh to be granted highest place in Jannah.
Aramata Jatta a reporter with Daily News also expressed her sentiment on the untimely death of Neneh and this is her condolence message “indeed , its rather unfortunate , and Neneh will forever be remembered by us and we will cherish the memories we shared together …. Its breaks my heart writing this farewell message as her voice still lingers in my mind and I could see the image of her face if when I close my eyes” she concluded .
Dawada Baldeh a Reporter with Daily News equally expressed sorrow on the death of Neneh, he added that the deceased was a beautiful person and was not only a colleague but sister and a mentor in the profession and he prayed for her soul to rest in perfect peace.
