Darboe’s Buntung Donate Rice $ Sugar To KMC $ BAC

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe Buntung Initiative on Thursday the 27 of August 2020 Donate Rice and Sugar to the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) and Brikama Area Council (BAC) to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The presentation was held at Old Jeshwang.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe said; the Buntung Initiative was launch on Easter Sunday on the 14 of April 2020 with the aimed to raise fund and help the needy.

Darboe said there are many people who raise fund in this initiative. He said there is a family who want to remain anonymous and they have donated one thousand (1000) bags of 50kg of Rice and two hundred and fifty (250) bags of 50kg of Sugar. We are very grateful to the family for their timely support and the contribution and others who have also contributed and want to remain anonymous says Darboe.

The leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) said  the Kanifing Municipal Council will be presented with 600 bags of Rice of 25kg and two hundred (200) bags of 50kg of Rice and 50kg of Sugar. We are also presenting to Brikama Area Council (BAC) with 700 bags of 25kg of Rice, 200 bags of 50kg of rice and 50 bags of 50kg of Sugar as well. This will help the community in respond to the fight against the coronavirus he noted.

Lawyer Darboe added that this initiative has no business with his UDP party. This is just to raise funds and help the needy. There are several people who are qualified to be sons, daughters and granddaughter to me and as well as brothers and sisters who really need help during this covid-19 crisis.

He said when the initiative was launch,  a gentleman in the United States called Babucarr Sidikih Jammeh established a coot fund for me and that day before midnight a sum of two thousand five-hundred dollars (2500) was raised and by the end of the third day, five thousand dollars (5000) had been raised said Darboe.

Darboe further extend gratitude to a man who ride his bicycle from Pirang to Brikama just to bring his contribution. This are people who can donate millions when they have it. Darboe finally express delight to a young lady in Scotland who is called Isatou Signateh and a young lady in the United States who is called Binta Jabang for their support and Gambians and non-Gambians who has responded positively.

Sainabou Sonko the CEO of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) said they are very grateful to receive the donation and added that rice and sugar donated to the Council has come at a time when it’s highly needed by the public.

Modou Nonga the CEO of Brikama Area Council (BAC) said the rice and sugar donated has come at the time when everyone is experiencing difficulties and by helping the needy in the communities will definitely ease their suffering during this crisis.

CEO Nonga added that that are very grateful and promised to distribute the rice and sugar to the needy.
