By Ousainou J Sawaneh (PrinCE OjeE)

Former Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh has dismissed the APRC/NPP alliance and dissolved the APRC executive of Fabakry Tombong Jatta alias FTJ describing them as “traitors” while selecting new interim executive that will work with Gambia Alliance for National Unity (GANU) party led by Sheikh Tijan Hydara.

Jammeh addressed his APRC supporters from his base Equatorial Guinea through phone call in Kanilai has said that “As a democratic Party, no matter what your position is, we cannot prevent anybody from allying themselves with anyone party.

Those who formed alliance with the NPP have already removed themselves from the APRC. Jammeh said “I am not approving the alliance of APRC/NPP; but we are allying ourselves with GANU Party” he said

Former President explained in a very clear terms as to why he did not speak about the alliance for a very long , adding that he wants to know the traitors.

“Let me make it very clear why I kept quiet for so long, If I have spoken then the traitors wouldn’t have been known. These people who left the party never have my approval, consent or permission to talk about alliance with any party” he revealed

APRC Supreme Leader told APRC supporters to oppose the alliance “I want to make it very clear. I have taken full leadership of the APRC Party as stated in the constitution of APRC. I am the supreme leader, flag barrier and I am the party Chairman and I want to make this announcement very clear,” he said

Jammeh said his party APRC has brought peace and free education in the Gambia but Barrow has destroyed that in just 4 years. He added they will not ally with any movement that is taking the Gambia backward

“APRC is a development oriented party that brought about peace and free education all of which went down the drain in the past 4 years. And in my capacity as the Supreme Leader of the party, APRC won’t form an alliance with a party that destroyed this country. That cannot happen. There’s no alliance to any party that has destroyed The Gambia over the past 4 years” he said

Jammeh further revealed names of people who will be working with the GANU party “Does who have left the party that’s the executive, I have no problem with that but they are here being replaced by the following people, Abdou Jarju, Bakary Saibo Sanneh, Modou Lamin Jammeh, Yaya Tamba, Matarr Kujabi, Jerending Sanyang, Ebou Sambou, Omar Mambureh, Pa Modou Mbowe, Regiana Williams and Habib Keita” he said

While Jammeh’s rejection of such alliance, as featured in his message, might not move likes of Fabakary Tombong Jatta and the team an inch from their alliance commitment.

APRC interim Leader, Fabakary Tombong Jatta has also spoken saying that he remains as the leader of the APRC and that APRC is not owned by anyone but the Gambia.
