Jammeh is a Fugitive of Justice

By Almamo Kamaso
Former President Jammeh is a fugitive of justice as far as the Victim centre is concerned, said Sheriff Kijera Chairman of Gambia Centre for Victims of Human Right Violation.
He alleged that as far as victim centre is concern Jammeh is a fugitive of justice, a murderer, rapist, criminal who has been seriously implicated by all the testimonies from TRRC.
‘APRC could distance themselves from Jammeh and all his crimes that have been committed during his 22 years of rule.’ Kejira said.
The human right activist was addressing members of the press at the Victim centre in Kololi just few days after the appearances of key witnesses of the massacre of the West African citizens at the Truth Commission.
The Victim Centre Chairman called on the government of the migrants to come together and fight against injustice and to bring Jammeh to justice and all those who bear responsibility on the atrocities.
Kijera applauded the Gambia government for initiating the establishment of the transitional justice project which came with the establishment of the Truth Commission and the National Human Right.
He implored on to the TRRC to take into account, the activities of the APRC party as far as the victim community is concern, noting they have not been conducting themselves as a political party because they are continuously in denials of all the testimonies coming from the commission.
They are still in defence of the brutal dictatorship that Jammeh altered and all the atrocities that have been perpetrated on Gambians of the 22 year regime of the APRC government, he remarked.
He said so far the victim centre registered more than 1000 victims from across the country from disappearance, killing, torture, unlawful detention, arbitrary arrest and gender base violence.
Emanuel Joof Chairman National Human Right Commission said they will make sure impunity does not rain in this country, adding they are all waiting on the recommendation of the TRRC and his office will be at the forefront to monitor the implementation of its recommendations.
He reassured that they will take a prominent position in the process to make sure that justice is done in this country, adding there cannot be reconciliation and reparation without justice and justice must prevail.
