KMC Mayor Bensouda Honours Athletics With Keys to the City

The Lord Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Talib Ahmed Bensouda has also taken the lead to honour the great Gambian Athletes Ebrima Camara and Gina Bass with the Keys to the City and with a cash of D250, 000 to each.

The Kanifing Municipal Council had the honour of hosting two of Gambia’s celebrated Olympians on Friday 3rd September, 2021.

Lord Mayor Bensouda was joined by Africell, Trust Bank Ltd and MFH Group to raise the amount of 250,000 for Gina Bass and another 250,000 for Ebrima Camara.

Another presentation of cash amounting to D112,000 was made possible through a fundraiser that was done for the same purpose by diaspora Gambians spearheaded by the versatile Sai Touray on behalf of the Marley foundation for the two athletes.

This initiative is part of KMC’s commitment to support youth participation in Development especially in the area of sports.

Speaking at the event, Bensouda said “today I had the great honor to present the keys to the city to Gina Bass and Ebrima Camara in recognition of their efforts to raise the Gambian Flag high in the Tokyo Olympics.

“Both Athletes originate from KM; Gina is a origin of Talinding and Ebrima is from Bundung and have made the residents of KM extremely proud, I was also able to get a few KM businesses together in the names of Africell, Trust Bank and MFH group to raise amounts of D250,000 to Gina Bass and D250,000 to Ebrima Camara” Bensouda said

He added that “In addition Sai Touray on behalf of the Marley Charity Foundation has Raised from diaspora Gambians a joint contribution of D112,000 for the athletes” he said.

He highlighted that this is a token and an encouragement to all aspiring athletes in The Gambia while promising Gina and Ebrima that the council will do more to focus on how we can support KM athletics.
