KMC Officials Visits Fajikunda Health Centre

Following the recent fire outbreak in the Fajikunda Health Center, officials of the Kanifing Municipal Council led by the Deputy Mayor, Madame Binta Janneh Jallow on Saturday 21st May 2022, visited the Health Center to express councils sympathy on the incident that causes serious damage to the hospital.

Speaking the Deputy Mayor of KMC has expressed councils sympathy towards the incident while assuring the management of councils support.

‘‘on behalf of the load Mayor, we were inform about this incident. As Council this is our mandate, if there is any fire outbreak within the Kanifing Municipality, we make sure we visit the place to know the level of destruction and to show our solidarity. So that we know what support we can give” she said

She further said the on and off of the electricity can cause a serious damage while calling on the landlords to go in for the standard wiring system to avoid electrical problems in their homes and institutions.

Ramatoulie Camara, Officer in Charge of the Health Centre stated that the fire incident started around 5:30pm on Friday.

OC Camara said they cannot tell the actual cause of the adding that they are associating it with NAWEC.

“There was on and off of the light. After the first on and the second on then it got to the fire outbreak. We are associating it with that but we have not get the cause of the fire” she said

Speaking on the level of destruction, OC Camara said the ceiling is all gone adding that the palpation room has also burnt down and all the chairs.

“Really there is massive destruction in the hospital and we lose lot of valuable materials” she said
She further call on the authorities to help as soon as possible.

Councilor for Fajikunda Ward, Baba Jabbie described the incident as unfortunate while calling on the authorities for immediate assistance.

“I am calling on the authorities for support, so that things will go back to normal as it was” he said

He said the Fajikunda Health Center is a major health center where different people go to get medication.

“Many people come to this hospital for medication specially the nursing hours” he said
