In what looks like pointing a warning finger at the local government Minister, Hon Musa Drammeh to stop interfering in the registration process of the country, the Hon member for Serekunda West, Hon Madi M.K.Ceesay revealed that he is privilege to information that the minister has started calling some Alikalos within the Kanifing Municipality to give attestation to undocumented Gambians irrespective of which part of the country they come from.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily News, Hon Ceesay said it is only the Alikalos and Seyfoos who are mandated by the Election Act to give attestation to undocumented citizens, and that, that job should not be interfered with by anybody, not even the Local government Minister.
Hon Ceesay condemned the act of the Minister Calling Alikalos through a party agent and give directives as who the Alikalo should give attestation to. “It’s wrong and is not in line with the Election Act” Hon Ceesay said. The law maker said even if the Minister wants to do so, would it not be better for him to make such calls official and not through the NPP regional Chairman Ounda Nyang.
The Serekunda West National Assembly member warn that Minister Drammeh should desist immediately from such interference with the registration processes and leave the Alikalos and Seyfoos do their job without unnecessary intervention.
Hon Ceesay said this is an effort by the Barrow camp to register none Gambians for the fourth coming elections as Gambians have already manifested their utmost disappointment in him and his wasted five years. The electorates are faced with high skyrocketing prices of basic and essential commodities, coupled with uncurbed crime against citizens and none citizens.
If the Local government minister wants to help his master (President Barrow) he needs to provide better advise to him to bring about security of people and their properties and secure the safe delivery of our mothers and sisiter when given births.
