TRRC Must be Free From Interference

The Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) must be free from any form of interferences. Not from politicians, not from religious men and women and not from any other sects.

The TRRC has a huge task and  a clear terms of reference(TOR), the commissioners are qualify in their own domains and the job so far  seen to have been done  is really revealing. The confessions and the apologies tell the stories of untold stories.

Politicians are advised to stop poking their noses in areas that did not concern them. Many of the meshes  that  are  unveiled by the TRRC are the making of the politicians, so they have nothing to offer as and advice,  as to what the TRRC should or should not recommend.

The TRRC and the Janneh Commissions are all as an Act of the National Assembly and each has a clear cut TORs. We have seen the end of the Janneh Commission and the recommendations the Janneh Commission has offered.

Unfortunately not all the recommendations were carried to the letter, and not only were the recommendations not carried but there were unfair treatment of witnesses as per the recommendations. Government must be seen to treat all fairly and equally. The Janneh Commission has recommended that some people must not be employed by government but such were defied in a few cases.

The Faraba Bantang Commission too did a very good job but unfortunately like the Janneh Commission, there is not much to be desired when it comes to government implementation of the recommendations.

The TRRC has not yet finished its job and they have not completely rounded up their task; we have begun to see politicians offering advice, such advice is seen in some quarters as interference.

The Daily News is equally concerned about interferences as the self-proclaimed TRRC adviser is urging the TRRC to forget about brining former President Jammeh to book, and concentrate on reparation of victims. If Jammeh is not brought to book would that not tantamount to denying him justice? There were so many allegations made against him and if he is not given the benefit of hearing his side of the allegations that is a big injustice to him.

TRRC must be left alone to finish their job with no form of interference PERIOD!!!!!!
