By Almamo Kamaso
The official launching of the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) Five Point Agenda Manifesto and website is under way at the Sir Dawda Kairaba International Conference hall in Bijilo West Coast Region.
These five (5) point agenda is Health, Education, ICT, Agriculture and Youth Development. The leadership of the party is promising electorates that among all the development agendas to be tackled shall have the five as a UDP priority.
Speaking to the Party’s Legal Secretary and Spokesperson Almami Fanding Taal , on the genesis of program, he revealed that the program is part of the 25th silver jubilee anniversary celebrations of the UDP, which falls on 23rd August 2021.
Taal who was speaking exclusively to the Daily News, was among other questions responding to the question, what his opinion is on the party’s journey for the last 25 years and what does the launching means to him, Taal said the launching is historic because it is coming at an inflection point in our democratic evolution as a country coming five years after we have peacefully depose a dictatorship by all account one of the worst that Africa has ever seen.
The Daily News also spoke to the Member of the National Assembly for Kombo South and Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly Hon Kebba K .Barrow on the 25th Anniversary, this what he has to say “I think one, we say congratulations to the party for its existence under a dictatorship for 22 years and now we are celebrating our silver jubilee and we also had a change of government. But the most important thing for us is the popularization and the launching of the manifesto from 2021 to 2026 of the five point agenda, which for me is one of the pillars of strengthening democracy and also the aspirations of the party since 1996.
He went further to say 2021-2026 manifesto is all compassion and looking at the five point agenda, it is my belief that for serious government, they have to look at these five key areas. These are Education, Health, Youth Development, ICT and Agriculture.
Attempts to speak to the Senior Administrative Secretary and Member of the National Assembly for Brikama North, Hon Alhagie S Darboe were futile as he was fully engaged with other party function in the provinces.
The Leader and Secretary General of the UDP, Honorable Lawyer Ousainou Darboe will grace the occasion and several UDP members of the National Assembly shall be in attendance.

The Secretary General and leader of the UDP cordially invites party militants, National Assembly membes and all well-wishers of the UDP to this auspicious occasion as party of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the party.
