“We don’t hate Jammeh and will Never Hate him,” Ousainou Darboe

The Leader and Secretary General of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Lawyer Ousainou Darboe described his party’s relationship with former President Jammeh as one that is not based on hate. “We don’t hate Jammeh and we will never hate him,” said Darboe
Darboe was speaking in an interview with Pa Modou Bojang of the Home digital FM of Brikama recently.
The veteran politician and lawyer said all we (UDP) were fighting against was the poor governance and corrupt practices and not Jammeh as a person.

Darboe blamed the current government of encouraging corruption, which the UDP fought against Jammeh. The veteran politician call for concerted efforts to fight to eradicate corruption and make sure the only dictator in this country will be the laws.

UDP boss said whoever is supporting UDP is to ensure better change for all Gambians. “We want the country to be a comfort place for all its citizens. We must not be in the business of encouraging corruption,” he stated.

Asked if he has any confidence in the electoral body IEC, Darboe’s response was in the positive. He said he believe there will be a free and fair elections. “I do not see anything that will make me to lose hope on IEC,” UDP Leader ended.

Whenthe UDP leader is asked if elected into office come 2021, will he not face the challenge of given positions to his followers as oppose to who fits the job; Darboe replied that he will not give anyone position because of friendship. The UDP presidential candidate said people can only be given positions if they have the required qualifications to run those positions.

He assured his audience that if UDP is voted into office , their first priorities will be to improve the health sector, education, agriculture, information and communications, security among others.
